Swearing in German...

I like to curse.  I'm sorry.  It's a bad habit and one unbecoming of a lady (I've been watching a lot of Downton Abbey lately, sorry).  But I cannot HELP it!

However, since I live with two children, I've had to learn to become more creative in my cursing vocabulary.

Fudge, Ding Dong, Rats, etc.  I even curse in French sometimes (one of the benefits of speaking the language to some degree).  You get the picture.

One thing I say with a lot of frequency, however, is Scheisse.  Sh!t in German.  I say it daily.  Multiple times daily if I'm being honest.

Annnnd, since it's another language I thought I was safe.  Neither Madeline nor Jack speak German (except for Dankeschön and bitte, and even then they really don't know what they're saying, it's just rote at this point).

Well no.  I am not safe.  The other day I heard Jack playing with some Legos, and without thinking he shouted "Scheisse!" when he dropped his creation and it broke.  I don't think he knew what he was saying, but he knew enough that this is what you say when you're pissed off.

So it's back to the drawing board for me.  Perhaps I'll learn how to swear in Turkish.

^^The photo has nothing to do with this post, other than I mentioned Jack by name and he looks like a perfect little goof in this picture with his teeny tiny toothy grin (tooth grinder).

That's funny!

I say SUGAR BEAR now instead of the "s" word. But then it makes me hungry.
