I spent a fabulous weekend with my 6 year old niece. The rest of my weekend was shit, but the time spent with Madeline is time I'll cherish. I love this little girl so much. I'm not a parent of children of my own but I have such a bond with my nieces and nephew and I feel so blessed by that connection. Maddy and I spent the day just hanging out, popping from place to place throughout the day. I know every child is special, but this little one...she's just magic. Thanks for spending you weekend with me Maddy. I hope you had as much fun as I did. xo

Oh. My. God. I am so effing sick I want to vomit - oh wait, I did that already tonight. I haven't been to bed yet, I am the walking dead at this point but cannot sleep as I keep getting sick (sorry - TMI I know). Jack, then Maddy, then Sherri then my mom and now me. I was hoping I'd get off scot free on this one (what exactly does that mean? I'm going to have to google that while I'm awaiting my next hurling). But no. I am freezing cold despite the multiple layers, nauseous beyond belief and exhausted. Today is most definitely a sick day...now if only I could sleep...

From www.wisegeek.com
"Scot literally translates to payment. Thus getting off scot-free is not having to pay the payment, or is payment free. In medieval England, occasionally people paid a tax called a scot that would have been used to fund relief programs for the exceptionally poor, not that such relief programs were many. The scot one paid was also called a lot, shorted for allotted share of the payment. The two terms naturally married, producing one word for both payment and share. If a person could avoid making a payment in some way, he was getting off scot-free. Now a scot could stand for any type of payment, and is often used when discussing paying a tab at the bar. Each person drinking owes a scot, a portion of a shared tab. A person who doesn’t pay his scot is getting off scot-free."
So now you know.
