This one goes out to Pastor Steve...

So I'm headed out to church tonight (I pray that Pastor Steve doesn't drop dead when I arrive - love ya PS!), I haven't been there since last Christmas. My church is pretty big, and as a result holds Christmas Eve services throughout the week before the holiday. An idea, I might add, that I thought was stupid last year when asked by my Pastor as to what I thought (again, love ya Pastor Steve). Now, I think its a great idea as I can't attend services this because my brother's best friend Tim is getting married on Christmas Eve.

I'm going to take Madeline and Jack (we'll see how it goes with Turkey Toe Johnson (as I like to call him and have since birth, and no, his last name isn't Johnson) - he's become a bit of a (lovable) monster in the past week or so. Hopefully we won't get kicked out of church as a result of his naughtiness.

I'm trying SO hard to get in the holiday spirit - its so freakin' hard with my dad being gone. But I try, and I will get into it sooner than later. But I'm hoping this will help. Seeing our beautiful church all prettied up, singing Christmas carols, etc.

I'll leave you with this little holiday nugget:
I helped run the Christmas party for Madeline's First Grade class today. At one point we were playing Holiday Pictionary and Olivia drew what I could tell was a fireplace, however, I could see how someone might mistake it for a Nativity scene (the log in the fireplace looked very much like a swaddled little baby). So when someone guessed "fireplace" and Olivia confirmed, Margaret freaked out and said, "WHY WOULD YOU PUT BABY JESUS IN A FIRE?!?!?!". Ahh, good times. We helped diffuse that nightmare by making clothespin reindeer. Distraction, I've found, is the key to 6 year old crises.
