You're never too old...
My mom and I went out to lunch the other day and we made a stop at Wegmans (it was either that or Target and I'd already been there once that day...two trips in one day just starts to get embarrassing). While wandering in the cosmetic section my mom was picking out a few bottles of nail polish and something about it struck me as super cute. I don't know why, but I loved that she still cares about looking pretty and having pretty hands. My mom's not old by any stretch of the imagination (62 to be exact) so it's not as though I should have been shocked that she still cares. She's just a cute lady, my mom!
Oh, and her choices? Apple green and aqua. Love it!

Happy Memorial Day!
Happy Memorial Day everyone! Coming from a family with a long military history, I want to say 'thank you' to all of the men and women who sacrifice their lives, their families and their comfort and safety to protect everyone in the US. So when you take a bite of that hot dog and watch the parade, just remember why we have this day off.
My dad and grandpa (who fought on D-Day in WWII and then joined the Navy to fight in the Korean War). My dad was a paratrooper in the Vietnam War.
My sweet friend Tim in Kabul.
Little man Jack in a flight suit from his uncle (my brother), based in Germany in the Air Force.
Yes...there's even a Tim Horton's in Afghanistan (courtesy of the Canadian contingency there)!
God bless America!

Kicks!
Oh my poor Madeline! The sweet child gets new kicks (see below) and my sister and I fall so madly in love with them that we each get a pair. Every 9 year old's dream. The adults in her life wearing the same shoes she's wearing.
But for reals...how could we resist?
Exactly.
I promised that I would never wear them out in public if she was with me. She seemed ok with that.
Poor girl.

The Tudors
I'm in love. Another period piece to fall into! Have you seen this show? No? Maybe because it hasn't been on in two years. I'm a little late to the party. But I'm in LOVE with this show! num num num, I could gobble it up!
AND because of this show I can now name all of Henry VIII's wives in order. Ok, ok, here you go (sheesh!):
For those keeping score, that's 3 Catherine/2 Anne. My personal favorites? Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard (both, sadly, beheaded).
Yay historical dramas! I'm such a mega-geek!

I did something bad...
The sheets I mentioned the other day? The sheets I said I would never get because they cost $200? Well, they may or may not be in my possession right now...
Ok. They are. But they're not on my bed yet. They're still in the cute little bag they arrived in. Staring at me from my dresser. With their beady little (albeit amazingly colorful) eyes.
Oh they're so lovely! So...keep or take back?

Artistes...
This past Tuesday was the Annual Elementary School Art Show for our district. This year Madeline and Jack both had pieces selected to display. I could not be more proud of them (and the unibrow in Jack's self portrait)!
Miss Madeline's flower (there was some technique used here, but I forgot what it's called).
Jack's self portrait. Nice smile dude. For the record...Jack's eyes are green and there's not a unibrow in sight. Madeline said he made an 'abstract' version of himself. Ha.

Craftiness strikes again...
Every now and then I get this bug to make something. I scrapbook in spurts, because I can't make anything unless I'm in the mood. I've made a few quilts, mainly for the kids because they each have a thing for blankets (you should see their beds, covered in quilts made by my sister in law Meg (an avid knitter), patchworks I've made and purchased bedding). I love color and patterns. Love it. It inspires me, and when I walk around fabric stores I purchase a yard here and there of whatever catches my eye. I spent the evening going through said fabric, picking pieces to go together for a few quilts I plan to make. Here they are, in order of production schedule (yeah, we'll be very warm this winter...).

Instagram Thursday...
Well hello, and welcome to a new installation of Instagram Thursday!!
Miss Moo wearing some fanciness (she later threw them across the room and broke two)...
Found in the book Madeline read for Jack's Mystery Reader Day at school. Sweet. This kept me busy for a few hours...
Sunday in the park...
My outside to do list was actually accomplished (in full!) over the weekend! Oh, and the 4 bags of topsoil turned into 13. #planning fail
Miss Madeline's hair for school one morning. I would kill for this child's hair.
J.Crew. Enough said.
Some of the work that was done. I hated every minute of it. A gardener for pleasure I am not.
Mr. Man was too busy to find matching shoes on Saturday (and Sunday).
Can now be found on my tootsies...
A little birthday love for Miss Olivia who just turned one! xo
